How we work

A steady, unhurried way through your finances

Our method isn't clever or complicated. It's simply patient, thorough, and built to leave you understanding your own situation better than anyone else in the room.

The principles behind it

What we hold to, and why

Four commitments that shape every engagement — and the practical proof of each.

We start by listening, not advising

The evidence

Our first meeting has no products, no proposals and no charge. We only ask questions. Nothing gets recommended until we understand what you actually want your money to do.

We write things down in plain language

The evidence

Every client leaves with a one-page overview they can read without us. If a document needs us present to be understood, we consider it badly written and redo it.

We quote fees before we begin

The evidence

You sign off on a fixed scope and price before any work starts. The invoice never contains a line you didn't expect.

We stay for the follow-through

The evidence

A plan on paper is worthless if it's never actioned. We schedule check-ins and hold you gently accountable until the decisions are actually made.

How an engagement unfolds

The four stages of working together

Most clients move through these over a few weeks. There's no obligation to reach the end — you can stop wherever it makes sense.

01

Stage one — The conversation

A free, relaxed first meeting where you talk and we listen. We establish what's on your mind and whether we're the right fit for it.

02

Stage two — The overview

We gather your figures and build the single-page picture of where you stand today. For many people this is the first time they've seen everything in one place.

03

Stage three — The options

We lay out the realistic paths forward, with the cost and consequence of each spelled out clearly. You decide — we make sure you're deciding with full information.

04

Stage four — The follow-through

We help you put the chosen decisions into action and check in over the months that follow to keep everything on track.

Practical questions

About working with us

Do I have to commit to all four stages?

No. Many clients do only the first two, get their clarity, and manage the rest themselves. You stop wherever it suits you.

How much of my time does this take?

Usually two or three meetings of about an hour each, plus a little time gathering documents. We keep the demands on your schedule modest and specific.

What if my situation is unusual?

Most "unusual" situations turn out to be familiar to us. And where something genuinely is uncommon, we'll say so and bring in the right specialist rather than bluff.

Can you work alongside my existing accountant?

Gladly. We often complement an accountant rather than replace one — they handle the compliance, we handle the bigger-picture decisions.

Ready when you are

Curious whether we're a fit?

The first conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing. It's the easiest way to find out.
